Department: Materials Management Administration

Location: Remote (Based out of Centre Square West Tower- 1500 Market Street)

Hours: (must live reasonable distance from location) M-F (8:00 – 4:30)

The Associate Director, Value Management provides leadership, analytic insight, and administrative support to Penn Medicine leaders on Value Management initiatives within the Penn Medicine System. The Associate Director will be expected to liaise with Executives, Physician leaders and other internal experts to address projects as appropriate.

The Associate Director, Value Management will manage a portfolio of Value Management projects and apply their consultative, analytical, and stakeholder management skills to drive positive change for Penn Medicine. The Associate Director, will work directly with the Corporate Director Value Management, Penn Medicine Executive and Physician leaders and provide support and direction to their respective teams.

Accountabilities

  • Act as an active and visible leader within the department

  • Hiring, management, and mentoring of less experienced analysts

  • Actively supports department Corporate Director in resolving operational issues

  • Oversee system support for assigned clients (e.g., service line, department, Disease Team, clinical team)

  • Primarily responsible for major Value Management system and entity projects, as assigned

  • Key elements of both client support and project management include:

  • Triaging, tracking, and ensuring delivery of requests

  • Serving as primary point of contact and team representative to the relevant client group

  • Working with stakeholders to identify potential issues or opportunities and develop data-driven work plans to address them

  • Executing analysis and/or overseeing analysis consistent with the work plan

  • Coordinating with team leadership and others as assigned to ensure project deliverables and analytics are aligned with system imperatives

  • Building consensus around key actions arising from their research analysis

  • Providing active, visible, independent leadership on assigned initiatives

  • Support maintenance and improvement of Penn Medicine Value Management data, analytics, and reporting infrastructure as directed by team leadership

  • Facilitate sharing of best practices across entities, service lines, and departments

  • Maintains market leading information about new product developments, and market trends. Identifies emerging technologies

  • Assures an enterprise wide view and inclusion of all entities in all initiatives and relevant programs

  • Partners with Hospital leadership and Corporate Materials Management to review non-clinical sourcing and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Minimum Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree(Business, Supply Chain, RN/Clinical area, or related field preferred) is required.

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.

  • 10+ years of professional work experience in health care value analysis, periop services, or hospital supply chain, including supervisory experience.

  • 2+ years of Consulting experience is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

  • CVAHP or CMRP is preferred

  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution, based on project requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct data entry, validate data, look for data anomalies, and provide solutions for improving data integrity

  • Experience in the healthcare industry, ideally with a strong understanding of clinical care delivery, provider financials, and major industry trends impacting health care providers
