Position Description :

The Lead Therapy role is a working therapist position that operates all radiation therapy equipment, is responsible for the set-up and treatment of patients as per physician order, providing instructions to patients, and maintains patient treatment records in ARIA. The Lead Therapist practices radiation safety principles along with sterile techniques, and reports in Condition Reporting System as appropriate for safety and/or tracking purposes. The Lead Therapist position leads the activities of staff therapists and oversees patient scheduling on the treatment machine(s) including the CT/SIM machine. The Lead Therapist is responsible for providing morning warm up morning QA. In conjunction with Physics is responsible for managing quality control and resolution management of all machines of location. This includes all reporting, tracking, and oversight of machine downtime, communication to appropriate group of downtime, and timeframe for bringing the machine back online. This role is responsible for managing monthly schedules of therapists and use of per diem coverage as needed. The Lead Therapist is mindful of volumes and monitors overtime usage. Responsible for staff therapist’s annual performance evaluations as well as completing staff therapist’s annual competencies and ensuring that staff therapist’s licenses do not expire. Radiation Therapist is responsible for the clinical chart check, weekly Radiation Quality audits, and Radiation Simple Sim Quality Check List.

Lead Therapist should ensure Therapists cut and pour Electron cutouts. Treatment scheduling or rescheduling is done by a therapist – however if a therapist is not available the Lead Therapist performs this function. The Lead Therapist schedules incoming transfers from Rad Onc Network locations as well as ensuring any patient positioning devices are being couriered, sim is scheduled, etc to ensure a smooth transition. Handles all physician concerns. The Lead Therapist verbally communicates with patients, staff therapists, physicians and the practice administrator when appropriate or as needed during delays. Sets a professional standard for staff therapists by providing technical support to staff and partnering with the practice administrator when appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.

The Lead Therapist participates in the Lead Therapy Group meeting. The Mission of the Lead Therapy Group Meeting is to review, update, and/or create Therapy policies as necessary for all locations (PCAM, Chester County, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania Hospital, Chestnut Hill, Doylestown, Cherry Hill, and all future locations). The Lead Therapy Group should be mindful of state guidelines and Hospital mapping when standardizing policies and always maintain the focus of safety, quality, and patient centered care. If competency changes need to be made due to new policies, all changes to competencies should be completed prior to submitting to NPR.

Minimum Requirements :

Certificate of Completion from an approved Radiation Therapy Technology Program.

Must possess a current certification of completion from an approved Radiation Therapy Technology Program.

Must possess a current ARRT certification and state licensure.

BLS/CPR as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association
